A new find!!

I LOVE finding new talent - one of the things I have always loved about my work. Since my early days as an art buyer in London up until now as a shop owner in France it has always been my 'job' to find new talent. These are some new handmade cards from the seriously talented team at Augustus Owl - all to be found at Oui Decor!!

Augustus Owl creates luxury greeting cards capturing the essence of the 'Arts and Crafts' movement but transformed with a contemporary twist.

Handmade in England, their designs layer heritage fabric with colourful geometric cut suede.

Beautiful cards with a nod to heritage. Yum.

Christmas Countdown

Well then - it's arrived - December - and the countdown to Christmas starts today. This is to be my very first Christmas in France and I approach it with excitement and just a little trepidation.
Excitement - for all the usual reasons. I love the look, smell and feel of Christmas. The sense of family and well-being, of giving (even if it's just hugs)and the smiles and salutations of strangers.
Trepidation - because it's my first year away from my 2 boys (they'll visit in January - can't wait!) but also because it's my first Christmas at my little shop in Sauze Vaussais, France. Have I bought the right stock? Have I bought enough???
Well - I'll leave that for you to decide.

I don't normally do cute - but I couldn't resist this adorable little wooden rocking horse, santa and Shaker style Christmas tree.

I'm in the process of uploading everything to the 'Christmas' section on the Oui Decor site. Let me know what you think? http://www.ouidecor.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=18

Christmas is coming.....

Just starting to get all my new Christmas stock in so I've decided Wednesday the 16th November is the day to decorate the shop windows. I love this time of year - it's just so smiley and magical! And I want to try and make the shop look smiley and magical too.
On the outside I'll be decorating the shop with total xmassy floral gorgeousness courtesy of the lovely Lisa Gatenby of French Flower Style.
This is Lisa!
Lisa began her Florist career in 1990 in Manchester where she made a name for herself as a wedding and event specialist. Her work has been featured many times in National Bridal magazines and she even won first place in a national floristry competition! Soooo talented! Lisa then decided to share her passion for creating bespoke floral designs and became a flower demonstrator in her home county of Cheshire as well as hosting many flower arranging classes in her shop and for her local college.
Now - luckily for us - she has moved lock stock and barrel to our lovely little corner of France.
I will be selling some of Lisa's creations in the Oui Decor shop - but what's more - Lisa will be hosting a series of Christmas workshops too.
Give her a call and she will tell you all. PLUS - if you are a Oui Decor customer you will receive a 5% discount too!
Call it an early Christmas present!!

September already!

Where has this year gone?? Can't believe I'm already making way for the new Oui Decor Autumn/Winter collections! But before I make my final selection I'm popping up to the Maison et Objet Salon in Paris to see what gorgeousness can be found at this amazing trade fair.
The trip will not be without it's challenges though as I fell off a horse last week and ended up with a pot on my ankle!!Well - more of a large 'punk' boot really with straps and buckles to help heal my badly sprained ankle and torn ligaments!! I rifled through my old shoe boxes and found a wonderful retro Rocket Dog sandle, complete with platform sole, to wear on my good foot to stop me limping so much! Works a treat.
When I get back, I'll post pics of any new designer/makers and products found at the Salon - meanwhile thought I'd share one of my fave sites with you.....see you when I get back - Jennyx
